CMEE4K volunteer meeting guideline

This is the SCOUTS CANADA Guideline for their STEM volunteer. CMEE4K has sharing the same principle, we capture some of the points from the above document.

  • Learning by doing allows youth to experiment with STEM through hands-on projects.
  • More fun they have while doing the activities, the more they learn.
  • Youth-led allows youth to feel empowered. We (and youth) learn together, and facilitate youth learning.
  • Encourage youth to reflect on their learning to understand what they are doing. Encourage them to ask a good question.
  • Complement the discussion with videos, the concept or the technology is being used to solve the real problem.
  • We don't have to know all the answers. Just be sure not to give uncertain answers. We could choose one of the following as our response.
    1. I don't know that, but it is an interesting question.
    2. I don't know that - how do you think we could find out?
    3. What an interesting question. No one has ever asked me that before. What I do know is ...
    4. I don't know that, but I wonder if you would like to find out a bit more and let us know what you find.
